The Greene County raceway once known as "Kil-Kare Speedway and Drag Strip" might be auctioned off next month.

Now named "Darana Raceway," sealed bids are invited for the Xenia Twp. track on Nov. 17, real estate firm Tranzon said recently.

The 3.8-mile oval track at 1166 Dayton-Xenia Road has a seven-decade-plus local history. It features a 1/4-mile concrete drag strip with pit and parking areas, track lighting, a control tower, RV hookups and more.

Sealed bids are due 6 p.m. Nov. 17, Tranzon said. Pre-auction offers are welcomed. Prospective bidders are cautioned that the property may be sold prior to the auction without notice.

The property is on offer in "as-is" condition. More can be learned here.

Kil-Kare Raceway was sold in 2025, but the oval was opened as a one-fifth-mile dirt track in 1951. A year later it was paved and reconfigured to a three-eighths-mile oval.

A quarter-mile dragway opened in 1959.

The site has been home to quarter midgets (a form of racing geared to younger drivers), drifting and even some big names in the sport. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, "TV Tommy" Ivo and Bob Glidden have made passes down the drag strip. On the oval, A.J. Foyt scored a Midget win at Kil-Kare in 1957.

The dragway was rebuilt with concrete in 2013, making it a popular venue for drag racing in the region.
